NEWS UPDATES
Good Morning VOS,
There is a ton of confusion surrounding the recent Executive Orders signed by the Trump Administration - specifically, in relation to impacting our Environmental Dept. projects. Although confusion will continue to remain a common reaction to this administration transition, our tribal operations will continue until told otherwise.
IPOP, LLC has been approved by all State & Federal permitting. This is not the news we all wanted, however, this will not stop our tribe in raising awareness, advocate against and work on educating anyone willing to listen on the detrimental damage that will occur right in our salmon fishing spots. We will continue to work on watershed protection, with or without support from those permitting agencies.
Time and time again, these same agencies have stripped basic human rights from our people, how is this any different? It is just another form of ‘take’ that we unfortunately have experienced, whether or not you have, individually experienced such - the generational trauma lives within each of us - as enrolled descendants of our original people. Let’s try to remember this as we face what is to come this summer, and let us allow the strength, unity and traditional pride shine through as we launch our educational campaigns in protection of our land and waters.
IF you have not already, please make your vote within the newest annual VOS awards.
